THE SAVING GRACE OF THE WILD

WILD THINGS

Tell me stories about

wild things -- harriers and condors,

eagles on the wing,

great blue whales, corals and krill

old-growth forests and painted hills.

Speak of wolves and their pups.

grizzles, salmon, cougars and slugs,

mosses and mushrooms,

rainforest greens, then deserts

where sand and sun reign supreme.

Tell me your history

and leave out your lies.

For the world knows

the hands of man bring death,

 greed and spies. Wilderness

 thrives only in our absence.
